WILMINGTON, DE, June 6,
2007 – IFI Patent Intelligence, part of Wolters Kluwer Health, today announced
a partnership with IPB Corporation to market PATENTATLAS, a Web-based patent-analysis service that utilizes
IFI-enhanced
PATENTATLAS compares the language of an
existing patent or new technology against IFI’s vast database of millions of
“With PATENTATLAS, you don’t have to be a
patent professional to get back a rich set of data including detailed graphs
and charts,” said Darlene Slaughter, General Manager of IFI Patent
Intelligence. “A customer simply enters a patent number or description of the
technology and PATENTATLAS automatically creates a customized report that
intelligently ‘maps’ the current landscape of comparable patents.”
Culling and enhancing patent information for more than 50
years, IFI employs proven data-standardization techniques to ensure high data
integrity. By using data that has been cleansed, the precision and thoroughness
of each PATENTATLAS search is greatly enhanced.
“PATENTATLAS improves the productivity of patent information
professionals by giving insight as to where to look and what to ignore,” said
Robert Coie, Operations Manager, IPB Corporation. “It helps people uncover
keywords, classes, or specific patents that would otherwise escape notice.”
The service also sets a new standard for
speed-of-delivery as most customized reports are sent to the customer via email
within one hour after submitting a request. Additionally, because it is fully
automated and requires no human interaction to run a search, PATENTATLAS is
entirely free of human bias and ensures that each query remains completely
confidential.
“Patents are now appreciated as intellectual
currency,” added Slaughter. “A company’s ability to navigate the marketplace
and foresee its true competitive advantage is often being determined by the
patents it holds.” According to Slaughter, the ability to quickly discern an
advantage from the millions of patents and applications on file is now in high
demand.
PATENTATLAS scans more than six million patents and published
applications from the IFI CLAIMS® database to find
the 3,000 most similar in their usage of significant keywords. Important
features of this group of comparables are presented in graphical and tabular
format under groupings such as assignee, technology field, and keyword usage.
Aging graphs indicate where on the technology life cycle a patent's comparables
lie, and where that patent fits into the picture. Specifics on the 300 most
closely related records are displayed in concise tabular format.
The reliable, text-searchable, IFI
CLAIMS® database utilized by PATENTATLAS includes all utility patents since
1980. PATENTATLAS is available immediately by visiting IFI’s Web site at
www.ificlaims.com
or by linking to http://wkifi.atlas.ipb-corporation.com.
There is no cost to register, and special introductory pricing is now in
effect.
The complete IFI CLAIMS® Patent
Databases, which include all utility patents since 1963; all chemical patents
since 1950; and the complete collection of U.S. patents issued from 1971-74,
including 96,000 records that are missing from the USPTO online database, are
also available on Dialog, STN International and Questel. For more information,
