Element	INID	Description
pct-designated-states	81, 84	PCT states designated by the applicant. Often the applicant will select to include all member states.
ep-contracting-states	84	EP member states at time of filing or those designated by the applicant.
ep-extended-states	84	Non-member states which signed extension agreements with the EPO. Currently only includes BA. See details here: https://www.epo.org/about-us/foundation/extension-states.html.
ep-validation-states	84	Non-member states which have a validation agreement with the EPO (e.g. MA, MD, TN, KH etc.), different from states which went through the post-grant validation process. See details here: https://www.epo.org/about-us/foundation/validation-states.html.
ep-up-participating-states	84	States participating in the Unitary Patent (UP). This element appears only in C0 records. Note: For A and B records, a list of the UP-participating states is generally available within the `legal-status` container several days after the initial UP data is received.
